The 3rd annual Hammerfest fueled by Gatorade Zero is coming to Birmingham on March 12 – 13, 2022. Professional cycling teams from all over the US will be racing through the streets of the Pepper Place District in downtown Birmingham. Amateurs, juniors, and hand cyclists will also be tackling the same course and putting their skills to the test.
This FREE weekend includes something for all ages with the Kids Zone, Community Hour, Lil’ Shamrock Ride, Lakeview Market Place vendors, and best-dressed contests for prizes. Don’t miss all the festivities at the restaurants and bars in the Pepper Place District.
Racing begins: 11am
Redemptive Cycles Bike Valet: opens at 11am
Hop City Biergarten: opens at 1pm
Kids Zone: opens at 2:30 pm
Lakeview Market Place: opens at 2:30pm
Appearances by Elsa, Anna & Spiderman: 3-4:30pm
Hammer Time including Lil’ Shamrock Kids ride & race: 3:30pm
Pro races: Women at 5:45pm and Men at 7:05pm
Parking is located outside the closed perimeter of the course. There is ample street parking in and around Pepper Place between 1st and 5th Avenues South as well as around the closed perimeter. The closed perimeter extends from 2nd Avenue S to 4th Avenue S and 28th St S to 32nd St S.
Hammer Time features something for everyone and begins at 3:30pm! Bring your family, friends and pups to party around the Leprechaun Loop. Kids can ride their scooters or bikes for the Lil’ Shamrock ride. Wear your green to win fun prizes too! Free registration begins at 3pm in the Kids Zone on 3rd Ave S. at the Martin Biscuit Co. Building.
The Kids Zone opens at 2:30pm and will include inflatables, crafts, prizes and more! Kids will also have the opportunity to ride on the crit course during our community hour, Hammer Time.
Redemptive Cycles will be back with a free bike valet for guests.

The start/finish line will be located at the intersection of 29th St South and 3rd Avenue near Lumbar and Jeni’s Ice Cream. 29th Street from Red Cat down to Mayawell will be a great viewing area as well as near Hop City.
